Is this an important season for Orioles manager Brandon Hyde? | MAILBAG

Question: Do you think this is a big year for Brandon Hyde? What if the Orioles don’t make the postseason or are eliminated again? Would they consider a change. I am not a fan of Brandon Hyde. From: Lewis Gilbert

Answer: Lewis, while you may not be a big fan of Brandon Hyde, I think Mike Elias and David Rubenstein are. I think they are both happy with the job he’s doing, and I think he’ll be the Orioles’ manager for years to come.

Question: If an Orioles player has his primary legal residence in a state with no state income tax (like Florida and Nevada), are they then able to avoid paying Maryland state income tax on what they earn as an Oriole? From: Scott Shindell

Answer:  Scott, players are taxed where they play. An Oriole who lives in Florida is taxed at the Maryland state rate for the games they play there, and for the prevailing state rate for road games.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: Rich@BaltimoreBaseball.com. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
