LOS ANGELES-The Orioles claimed outfielder Forrest Wall off waivers from Miami on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 28-year-old Wall is a lifetime .311 hitter in 31 games over the past two seasons with Atlanta and the Marlins. A left-handed hitter, Wall is 14-for-45 and has a home run and three RBIs. He’s stolen nine bases in 13 attempts.
To make room for Wall on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated right-hander Dillon Tate for assignment. Tate, who was acquired from the New York Yankees in July 2018 in the Zack Britton trade, is 7-14 with a 4.07 ERA and nine saves in five seasons with the Orioles.
Tate was 2-1 with a 4.59 ERA with one save in 29 games with the Orioles this season. He missed the 2023 season because of elbow and forearm injuries.
