The answer to all 30 questions is Aaron Ledesma
I was going say Stevie.
Gimmickie!
Damn this is really deep.
Rich - I love your trivia quizzes but 30 questions is a little overwhelming. I could do the research if there were 10 a day. Just saying, and Thanks!
It’s just once a year, Tx. You can split it up for three days.
I just make educated guesses and get a couple correct.
Tex … there’s no research in trivia! There is only know, or don’t know, and I know nothing!
Were you on Hogan’s Heroes?…go O’s…
Actually I was channeling Yoda. Not a good impersonation.
Thought that was a Sargent Schultz thingy, Ahh, see I do…go O’s…
Now that I think of it, our buddy called me Sgt Schultz once. May be something too it.
;)…go O’s…
This one seems harder than usual with the emphasis on pitching coaches, 90s and the last couple years (which I haven’t followed super closely).
I try to make the quiz moderately hard, Steve. It’s not the hardest, but I really don’t want to make it too easy.
Tyler Kepner had his annual quiz in The New York Times on Saturday, and it’s quite challenging, and I got about 30 questions of 50 correct.
I claim to have answered all 30 questions, it took me approximately 2.5 hours. I expect a prize of some sort Rich! Question #17 took me the longest as I could not find the answer in one spot, had to wade through season after season of inter-league results.
Joe, I found the answer to
No. 17 in the Orioles’ media guide.
Joe there’s no googling in Trivial pursuit, why would you get credit here?
All these fertile minds researching such obscure questions. Google is going to short circuit. Its as sure as a Severino passed ball…
31. Which Tier 1 FA did Elias sign during his first 3 yrs as GM?…lol…go O’s…
At last, a question I know the answer to
Too much work, maybe if was in prison...
Didn’t have a clue for 1st 19 questions. And number 20 was a two-parter of which I MAY have gotten one! Thanks for easing up those last 10 Rich! I may have answered correctly.
Dang you’re tough!
I meant 5 of the last 10. Not all ten. And no googling boys.
I got a perfect score. Could not answer 100% of these obscurities.
Beat answer WV.
“Best answer.” WV
No. One’s famous spell check app strikes again.
I know #’s 3 and 28. I feel somewhat confident of about 7-8 others and I know half of the answer to #19 as I know who started and finished the game. Other than that I’m ashamed to say I consider myself a diehard lifelong O’s fan but haven’t a clue on many of them.
Dave, I couldn’t do a fair quiz if I knew all the answers without looking some up. When I took Tyler’s quiz in The Times the other day, I didn’t look any up, but when you write one, you want to make sure you know the answers.
This is what I do for a living, and I couldn’t answer all of them without checking, so you and the other readers shouldn’t feel bad about not knowing all of them.
Yeah. I agree with not having a clue. I’m not a trivia kind of guy, but I did read all the questions and am amazed fans can retain and recall such info.
Catcher Clay D batted 1,000 in 69 WS!
I coulda waited until tomorrow to find that out. I woulda been wrong. I was guessing it was gonna be a pitcher. Ok, Buzz, no more giving away answers, ok?
My guess was Merv.
I love it when an oldie but a goodie gets a mention here. Merv Rettenmund was one of my earliest favorite players because he had a great game in one of the first games I ever went to. It took me a while to realize why he didn’t play more often but when he did play he always seemed to come thru. He was a true old timer in that he rarely K’d. In fact, after checking just now I see where for his career he walked 445 times and only K’d 382. He had a lifetime .381 OBP. He’s another one of those guys who I wouldn’t mind seeing in the O’s Hall of Fame, but not before Etchebarren.
Agree! And with correct spelling. Not an easy name to spell or pronounce. I used to just say “Good job 14.”
Rich, Here's a suggestion to change the quiz a bit: next time, do it 'Jeopardy' style. Give us the answers and we'll see if we can come up with the questions. In either case, include a couple or three easy ones so some of us can answer at least two.
How do you find the answer s
