  • Rich - I love your trivia quizzes but 30 questions is a little overwhelming. I could do the research if there were 10 a day. Just saying, and Thanks!

  • This one seems harder than usual with the emphasis on pitching coaches, 90s and the last couple years (which I haven’t followed super closely).

    • I try to make the quiz moderately hard, Steve. It’s not the hardest, but I really don’t want to make it too easy.

Tyler Kepner had his annual quiz in The New York Times on Saturday, and it’s quite challenging, and I got about 30 questions of 50 correct.

  • I claim to have answered all 30 questions, it took me approximately 2.5 hours. I expect a prize of some sort Rich! Question #17 took me the longest as I could not find the answer in one spot, had to wade through season after season of inter-league results.

  • All these fertile minds researching such obscure questions. Google is going to short circuit. Its as sure as a Severino passed ball…

  • Didn’t have a clue for 1st 19 questions. And number 20 was a two-parter of which I MAY have gotten one! Thanks for easing up those last 10 Rich! I may have answered correctly.

    Dang you’re tough!

  • I know #’s 3 and 28. I feel somewhat confident of about 7-8 others and I know half of the answer to #19 as I know who started and finished the game. Other than that I’m ashamed to say I consider myself a diehard lifelong O’s fan but haven’t a clue on many of them.

    • Dave, I couldn’t do a fair quiz if I knew all the answers without looking some up. When I took Tyler’s quiz in The Times the other day, I didn’t look any up, but when you write one, you want to make sure you know the answers.

This is what I do for a living, and I couldn’t answer all of them without checking, so you and the other readers shouldn’t feel bad about not knowing all of them.

    • Yeah. I agree with not having a clue. I’m not a trivia kind of guy, but I did read all the questions and am amazed fans can retain and recall such info.

    • I coulda waited until tomorrow to find that out. I woulda been wrong. I was guessing it was gonna be a pitcher. Ok, Buzz, no more giving away answers, ok?

    • I love it when an oldie but a goodie gets a mention here. Merv Rettenmund was one of my earliest favorite players because he had a great game in one of the first games I ever went to. It took me a while to realize why he didn’t play more often but when he did play he always seemed to come thru. He was a true old timer in that he rarely K’d. In fact, after checking just now I see where for his career he walked 445 times and only K’d 382. He had a lifetime .381 OBP. He’s another one of those guys who I wouldn’t mind seeing in the O’s Hall of Fame, but not before Etchebarren.

      • Agree! And with correct spelling. Not an easy name to spell or pronounce. I used to just say “Good job 14.”

  • Rich, Here's a suggestion to change the quiz a bit: next time, do it 'Jeopardy' style. Give us the answers and we'll see if we can come up with the questions. In either case, include a couple or three easy ones so some of us can answer at least two.
