Adley Rutschman, who is now considered the top prospect in minor league baseball, is getting promoted from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk.
Rutschman’s promotion was first reported by MASNsports.com and confirmed by industry sources.
The 23-year-old catcher, who was the overall top pick in the 2019 draft by the Orioles, was recently named baseball’s top prospect by MLBPipeline.
Rutschman is batting .271 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs in 80 games with Bowie.
The Baysox were no-hit by Somerset, 7-0, on Sunday. Rutschman struck out twice in three at-bats.
Rutschman’s first scheduled game with Norfolk is on Tuesday at Harbor Park against Memphis.

Good. Assume he'll ride it out there. Now he gets to see first hand some of these rag-a-muffin pitchers rotating between Norfolk and Baltimore. Hope he can help stabilize that situation. Question Rich--if he were to be called up to Baltimore would that result in him having to be put on the 40 man roster thus being subject to a player stoppage next spring(idlizing him)?
