Orioles-Red Sox opener postponed by rain, rescheduled for Friday

BOSTON—The Orioles’ Opening Day game against the Boston Red Sox was postponed because of rain. Thursday’s opener, which was scheduled for 2:10 p.m. at Fenway Park, will be played on Friday.

The announcement came shortly after 9 a.m., more than five hours before game time. Early Thursday morning, there was some rain and raw conditions, but the Red Sox said that the forecast called for periods of rain throughout the day.

Friday’s forecast calls for sunny weather with a high of 46 degrees.

John Means is scheduled to face Boston’s Nathan Eovaldi in the opener.
