It isn’t only young players who make their big league debut on Opening Day.
It happens throughout Camden Yards each year. New ushers, new staff members, new concession workers and new media members.
On Thursday, Ty Lohr, a staff photographer and writer for The Evening Sun in Hanover, Pa., shot his first Opening Day representing BaltimoreBaseball.com.
Lohr was pinch-hitting for our staff photographer, Joy R. Absalon, who returns to the park this weekend after some extended spring training.
As I think you will agree, Ty did a heck of a job in his first day at Camden Yards.
Of course, it was a heck of a game to shoot on a beautiful afternoon in Baltimore. Check out these dozen images from Thursday.

Quick hits: I don’t know about “without a hitch” regarding Machado and Beckham. T-Bizzy missed a play at third that made everyone watching bellow “Manny would’ve had that!” The sainted Mr. Machado, meanwhile, couldn’t pull a throw out of the dirt on a stolen base. Rust? Maybe. Without a hitch? No.
Speaking of Machado, dude, that hair gotz to go. He looks like a troll doll with a fade. I realize he hasn’t gotten his hefty raise just yet, but his rookie deal must pay him enough to not require his Dad cut his hair, right?
Boys will be boys, and Trumbo’s will continue to look completely uninterested.

Hahahaha. Switch rhymes with hitch. And I don’t disagree Manny might have had that play but no one should be judged through that prism. And hilarious that you found Trumbo in that shot. He’s not a super emotional guy that’s for sure. And he is hurt.

How can you miss him? There are 10 smiling guys and one dude looking like he wants to punch someone. Ah Trumbo, how we’ve missed ya.

Some great photos by Mr. Lohr … really like Jones’ classic home run swing, and Manny’s haircut.
