Orioles have demanding schedule; O’s-Braves lineups

BALTIMORE—Every game seems like a “must-win” for the Orioles. There are 57 games remaining in the season and only 12 are against teams not currently in the playoff race.

After Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, who lead the National League East, they’ll head to Detroit for three against the resurgent Tigers and return here for a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, who are 5 ½ games behind Atlanta.

After the Phillies series, the Orioles host the Los Angeles Angels (41-64), who have the worst record in the majors.

Kyle Bradish (7-9, 3.49) will start against Keider Montero (7-5, 3.14) on Monday night. Dean Kremer (1-3, 5.06) and Troy Melton (5-1, 1.95) are the scheduled Tuesday starters, and Trevor Rogers (6-7, 4.17) will start against Tarik Skubal (7-5, 2.70) on Wednesday afternoon.

Notes: Catcher Yohel Pozo has joined the Orioles as a taxi squad catcher. Pazo was claimed off waivers from St. Louis on Thursday. He’s a lifetime .247 hitter in 106 games with Texas and the Cardinals in three seasons. “I spent all last year in the big leagues with the Cardinals, and it’s a different game than at Triple-A,” he said. “I feel I can call the game really well. I can block and I can throw people out.” … Infielder Luis Almeyda is being reinstated from the Single-A Delmarva injured list on a planned game progression. … The Orioles have issued at least two walks in seven straight games, their longest streak since September 23rd-30th, 2003.
