The Orioles continue to churn their roster, claiming utilityman Weston Wilson off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. To make room for Wilson on the 40-man roster, they designated left-hander José Suárez for assignment.
Suárez had been claimed from Atlanta on January 15th.
The 31-year-old Wilson hit .242 with a .756 OPS with nine home runs and 29 RBIs in 100 games with the Phillies in the last three seasons.
In 52 games in 2025, Wilson, who’s played first, second, third base and the corner outfield, hit .198 with five home runs and 17 RBIs.
Last season, he was 3-for-7 with a home run and two RBIs in two games against the Orioles at Citizens Bank Park.
Another utility player, Marco Luciano, who was designated for assignment after Suárez was claimed, is heading to the New York Yankees, who claimed him off waivers on Thursday.
