Manager Craig Albernaz’s coaching staff will include some new coaches and some holdovers, with some still to be decided.
In addition to new bench coach Donnie Ecker, hitting coach Dustin Lind and first base coach Jason Bourgeois, three members from this past season’s team are staying: pitching coach Drew French, assistant pitching coach Ryan Klimek and third base coach Buck Britton. Their roles and titles haven’t been announced.
Mitch Plassmeyer, who served as bullpen coach after Tim Cossins was dismissed along with manager Brandon Hyde on May 17th, also will return, according to an industry source.
News of the retentions of Britton, French and Klimek were first reported by MLB.com and The Baltimore Banner and confirmed by an industry source.
Development coach Grant Anders, who’d been in that role for the last two years, will not return. He’d been in the organization since 2020. News on Anders was first reported by MASNsports.com and confirmed by an industry source.
No decision has been made on senior advisor John Mabry, according to a source.
French has been with the Orioles for the past two seasons. Klimek, who’s been in the organization since 2017 and has been pitching strategy coach since 2022, was French’s assistant in the dugout after Plassmeyer moved to the bullpen.
