The Orioles have hired Jason Bourgeois as their first base coach. He’s the second coach brought on by new manager Craig Albernaz, following Dustin Lind, who was hired as the lead hitting coach last week.

Bourgeois was the first base/outfield coach for the Chicago White Sox for the last two seasons.

The 43-year-old Bourgeois played eight major league seasons as an outfielder with the White Sox, Milwaukee, Houston, Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Cincinnati, hitting .253 in 317 games.

He replaces Anthony Sanders, the Orioles’ first base coach for the last six seasons, who’ll coach first base for Detroit.

Besides Sanders, hitting coaches Cody Asche, Tommy Joseph and Sherman Johnson have left, as has bench coach Robinson Chirinos.

There’s been no word on the futures of third base coach Buck Britton, pitching coach Drew French, assistant pitching coach Ryan Klimek and bullpen coach Mitch Plassmeyer, development coach Grant Anders or senior advisor John Mabry.

Bourgeois and Albernaz were teammates with the Rays’ Triple-A Durham team in 2013.

News of the Bourgeois hiring was first reported by the Baltimore Banner and confirmed by an industry source.

Paredes signed to minor league contract

The Orioles signed right-hander Enoli Parades to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The 30-year-old is 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA and a save in four seasons with Houston, Milwaukee and the Chicago Cubs. Paredes spent the 2025 season at Atlanta’s Triple-A Gwinnett, where he was 2-3 with a 4.40 ERA and three saves in 46 games.

In his 54 major league innings, Paredes has allowed just one home run but has walked nearly seven batters per nine innings.
