BALTIMORE—The Orioles’ scheduled game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night was postponed by rain. The teams will play a split doubleheader on Wednesday with the first game scheduled at 1:35 p.m. and the second at 6:35.
Gates will open at 12:30 for the first game and 5:30 for the second.
The postponement was announced at 1:50 p.m. It’s the Orioles’ four postponement this season, the third at home. The others were on April 29th and May 23rd.
Tickets for Tuesday night’s game can be used for Game 1 on Wednesday. Fans who wish to attend Game 2 instead can exchange them until 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
Chris Bassitt (8-5, 4.64) will start Game 1 for the Orioles. They haven’t announced a starter for Game 2. Max Scherzer (3-8, 6.07) was Toronto’s scheduled starter for Tuesday night’s game. They have yet to announce starters for either game.
The Orioles could add right-hander Trey Gibson as their 29th player for the doubleheader. Gibson would have been the logical pick for Wednesday night had there not been a rainout, but they could also use left-hander Cade Povich, who pitched on Friday night and was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for Félix Bautista.
Pitchers used as the extra player for makeup doubleheaders do not have to spend 15 days in the minor leagues.
