BALTIMORE—The Orioles on Friday traded starting pitcher Dean Kremer to the Minnesota Twins for 18-year-old minor league outfielder Jhomnardo Reyes.

Kremer, who came to the Orioles in the trade that sent Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers in July 2018, missed much of this season with a strained right quadriceps muscle. He was 1-4 with a 6.50 ERA in seven starts this season.

In seven seasons with the Orioles, the 30-year-old right-hander was 42-44 with a 4.37 ERA in 133 games.

He made his debut in 2020 and had his best season in 2023 when he was 13-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 32 starts. Last season, Kremer led the team with 171 2/3 innings when he was 11-10 with a 4.19 ERA.

Reyes, the Twins’ No. 12 prospect in Baseball America and No. 24 in MLB.com, is hitting .105 (2-for-19) with two RBIs for Single-A Fort Myers. He hit .296 with a .950 OPS with seven home runs and 44 RBIs for the Twins’ Florida Complex League this season.
