Will Cowser be Orioles’ centerfielder in 2026? | MAILBAG

Question: I haven’t seen any of the spring training games on TV but looking at the stats it seems Colton Cowser is still striking out a lot. If his swing can’t be fixed, has there been any talk of Dylan Beavers getting a shot as the everyday centerfielder? From: Nate Brech

Answer: Nate, I think the Orioles will give Colton Cowser every opportunity to be the everyday centerfielder. For now, Leody Taveras is his backup. Beavers has played center field in the minors and a few times this spring.

The Orioles have a lot invested in Cowser. He was a high draft pick, and even though he struck out a ton in 2025, his defensive metrics are excellent, he has lots of power and stole 14 bases without being thrown out.

I think you’ll see a lot of Cowser in center field this season.
