Orioles’ Eflin goes to injured list but still could be traded; Young recalled

Oriole starter Zach Eflin has been placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Tuesday with lower back discomfort but, according to a report by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, still could be traded before the 6 p.m. trade deadline.

This is Elfin’s third trip to the 15-day injured list this season. He was on for a lat injury in April, and now twice for lower back issues. He pitched twice since coming off the IL for the back issue. In his most recent start, he allowed four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings against Toronto on Monday night.

For the season, Eflin is 6-5 with a 5.93 ERA in 14 starts. His injuries haven’t been arm related.
