The Orioles have signed their first-round draft pick, Ike Irish, a catcher from Auburn University. Irish was the 19th overall selection in Sunday’s draft.
Irish signed for $4,418,400, according to MLB.com’s Jim Callis.
Irish, a 21-year-old left-handed hitter, batted .364 with a 1.179 OPS, 19 home runs and 58 RBIs this season in 55 games for the Tigers.
He played most of the time in right field and caught only 12 games because of an injury suffered when he was hit by a pitch.
The Orioles have also signed three other draft picks, according to their transactions page: right-handed pitcher Hunter Allen (7th round), from Ashland University; left-handed pitcher Kailen Hamson (8th round), from University of the Cumberlands; and right-handed pitcher Dalton Neuschwander (10th round), from the University of West Florida.
The deadline for signing draft picks is July 28th at 5 p.m.
