Orioles decide to wait on Rutschman, add Chadwick Tromp to roster

BALTIMORE–The Orioles are waiting on catcher Adley Rutschman, who’s not ready to play a day after taking a foul tip on the mask. Instead of putting Rutschman on the 7-day concussion injury list, the Orioles selected the contract of Chadwick Tromp, who had been catching for Triple-A Norfolk.

In 61 games with San Francisco and Atlanta from 2020-2025, he hit .224 with five home runs and 22 RBIs.

To make room for Tromp on the roster, the Orioles designated utilityman Cooper Hummel for assignment. Hummel was signed on Sunday.
