BOSTON—The Orioles-Red Sox game scheduled on Thursday at Boston’s Fenway Park has been postponed. A split doubleheader will be played on Friday, with game times at 1:35 and 7:10 p.m.
Persistent rain caused Thursday’s postponement more than four hours before the scheduled 6:45 p.m. start.
It’s the fourth rainout of the season for the Orioles, and the second in the last nine days. The Orioles-Twins game on May 13th was rescheduled as a doubleheader the next day.
Cade Povich (1-3, 5.23), who was scheduled to start on Thursday night, will start Friday’s first game. The Orioles haven’t announced a starter for the second game. Brayan Bello (2-1, 4.02) will start against Povich. Lucas Giolito (1-1, 7.08) will start the second game.
Both teams will get to add a 27th player. It’s possible the Orioles could add left-hander Trevor Rogers to start the second game or they could add another relief pitcher. Rogers has yet to pitch for the Orioles this season.
