The Orioles on Thursday placed Blaze Alexander on the 10-day injured list with a broken left hand. Alexander, who’s played six positions so far this season, was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning of Sunday’s game against Kansas City by Lucas Ercag.
The move is retroactive to Monday.
Alexander is hitting .312 with an .807 OPS, four home runs and 29 RBIs in 82 games.
The Orioles recalled third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand from Triple-A Norfolk. Encarnacion-Strand was purchased by the Orioles from Cincinnati on April 13th and was optioned to Norfolk, where he was hitting .273 with an .863 OPS, 17 home runs and 48 RBIs.
In 128 games with the Reds from 2023-2025, Encarnacion-Strand hit .233 with 21 home runs and 72 RBIs and a .679 OPS.
The Orioles still have another roster move to make before Friday night’s game in Houston since they optioned left-hander Nick Raquet to Norfolk over the All-Star break.
