Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow and will miss the 2026 season. The surgery was done to repair a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Westburg met with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday and decided to have the surgery. Westburg received a platelet-rich plasma injection in the elbow in February, with the hope that there would be sufficient healing to allow him to play this season.

Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias will meet with the media at Nationals Park on Friday afternoon to discuss the decision.

Westburg was going through a rehab program in Sarasota. When he increased the length and intensity of his throwing, he felt discomfort. After a period of rest, he went to see ElAttrache.
