Do the Orioles strike out too often? | MAILBAG

Question: Do you think the Orioles have too many batters that strike out too much? I do. I believe it will haunt you in the playoffs. I hope Pete Alonso doesn’t end up being a right-handed Chris Davis. From: James Greene

Answer: James, the Orioles finished fourth in the major leagues in strikeouts in 2025, and they certainly need to cut down in 2026. Jackson Holliday struck out 140 times in 149 games. Gunnar Henderson 137 times in 154 games and Colton Cowser 128 times in 92 games.

Strikeouts will haunt you in the playoffs, but I think they need do better in the regular season before we get concerned about the playoffs.

Question: Spring training has around 70 Orioles players in camp. That’s almost 3 times the amount of players who are there for the regular season. How does a locker room accommodate 70 players? From: Marc Goodman

Answer: Marc, there are 72 players in camp. The main clubhouse has 59 cubicles and the other 13 players are in an auxiliary clubhouse, which is off-limits to the media.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: [email protected]. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
