Orioles claim reliever Roansy Contreras off waivers for 2nd time, designate Cameron for assignment

For the second time in less than a month, the Orioles have claimed right-handed pitcher Roansy Contreras off waivers. This time, it was from the New York Yankees.

On January 10^th, the Orioles claimed the 25-year-old from Cincinnati, and on January 23^rd, the Yankees claimed him from the Orioles. During the offseason, Contreras also has been on the roster of the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers

Last season, Contreras was 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA and two saves in 49 games with the Angels and Pittsburgh Pirates. Contreras has a 4.72 ERA in 90 games, 53 of them with Pittsburgh from 2021-2024.

To make room for Contreras on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated outfielder Daz Cameron for assignment. Cameron was purchased from the Athletics on October 31^st.

Infielder Luis Vázquez, who was designated for assignment when the Orioles signed outfielder Ramón Laureano on Tuesday, cleared outright waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk. He’s been invited to spring training.
