Rick Dempsey was one of the greatest catchers in Orioles history. Though he never won a Gold Glove or made an All-Star team, Dempsey’s outgoing personality made him a fan favorite during the “Orioles Magic” years.
The greatest moment in his 12 seasons with the Orioles was winning the Most Valuable Player in the 1983 World Series when he hit .385. He also won a Series with the 1988 Los Angeles Dodgers.
Dempsey, who played until he was 43, concluded his career with a second stint with the Orioles in 1992. He was also a coach and longtime broadcaster for the team.
