Orioles release 2023 schedule in which they’ll play every team; Right-hander Sanders claimed off waivers

BALTIMORE—The Orioles open their 2023 season with a familiar opponent, the Boston Red Sox, at Fenway Park on March 30^th. They’ll close the season at Camden Yards against the Red Sox on October 1^st. In between, there will be many changes as Major League Baseball adopts a new schedule in which each team will play every team for the first time.

The Orioles’ home opener is scheduled for April 6^th against the New York Yankees. But instead of 19 games against their American League East opponents, they’ll play 13 against their American League East opponents New York, Boston, Tampa Bay and Toronto.

They’ll play a three-game series against 14 National League opponents and a pair of two-game series against the Washington Nationals.

The Orioles will play the New York Mets August 4^th-6^th at Camden Yards. It will be the first visit for former manager Buck Showalter since the end of the 2018 season.

Pittsburgh (May 12^th-14^th), Cincinnati (June 26^th-28^th), Miami (July 14^th-16^th), Los Angeles (July 17^th-20^th), Colorado (August 25^th-27^th), St. Louis (September 11^th-13^th) and Washington (September 26^th and 27^th) will visit Baltimore.

The Orioles will play at Washington (April 18^th and 19^th), Atlanta (May 5^th-7^th), San Francisco (June 2^nd-4^th), Milwaukee (June 6^th-8^th), Chicago (June 16^th-18^th), Philadelphia (July 24^th-26^th), San Diego (August 14^th-16^th) and Arizona (September 1^st-3^rd.)

The Orioles will be at home for Memorial Day, May 29^th against Cleveland, but away for July 4^th against the Yankees, and Labor Day, September 4^th, at the Angels.

The Yankees will visit Baltimore April 6^th, 8^th and 9^th and July 28^th-30^th. The Red Sox will be here April 24^th-26^th, and September 28^th-30^th.

Sanders added: The Orioles claimed right-handed pitcher Phoenix Sanders off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. The 25-year-old right-hander had a 3.07 ERA in eight games this season.

Sanders will not be available for Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

Notes: Grayson Rodriguez threw a live batting practice in Sarasota. He’s continuing his rehab from a lat injury. … Travis Lakins, who’s rehabbing a right elbow injury, will pitch for Double-A Bowie on Wednesday.
