Orioles trade Fry to Arizona

BALTIMORE—The Orioles traded 29-year-old left-handed pitcher Paul Fry, who was designated for assignment on Saturday, to the Arizona Diamondbacks for 19-year-old right-handed pitcher Luis Osorio on Wednesday.

Fry, who was 7-16 with a 4.80 ERA in five seasons with the Orioles, had been the longest tenured pitcher on the team.

Fry, who came to the Orioles in April 2017 from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for international bonus slot money, had a 6.00 ERA in 12 games this season.

Fry was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk before Thursday’s game when the Orioles recalled infielder Rylan Bannon and designated for assignment when they claimed right-hander Beau Sulser on waivers from Pittsburgh.

Osorio, who’s from Venezuela, was 3-2 with a 5.83 ERA in 15 games for Arizona’s team in the Dominican Summer League.
