Orioles will open 2022 season at home on March 31 against Toronto

The Orioles will open the 2022 season at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday, March 31st.

The 2022 Orioles schedule will feature interleague matchups against the National League Central, games that were supposed to be played in 2020 before the pandemic altered the schedule.

The Orioles will ply the Milwaukee Brewers (April 11-13), Chicago Cubs (June 7-8) and Pittsburgh Pirates (August 5-7) at home. The Washington Nationals also will play two games in Baltimore on June 21-22.

The Orioles are usually home on Memorial Day and away for July 4th, but in 2022, they’ll be in Boston on May 30th and playing Texas at home on July 4th. It will be the first time the Orioles have been at home for July 4th since 2008. They’ll also be home on Labor Day on September 5th against Toronto.

There will be three home series against the New York Yankees (April 15-17, May 16-19 and July 22-24), and Boston Red Sox (April 29-May 1, August 19-21 and September 9-11).

The longest homestand is from April 29-May 8 with 10 games against Boston, Minnesota and Kansas City. The longest road trip is 10 games against Oakland, Los Angeles and New York from April 18-28.

The 2022 season would have had the Orioles playing games against the National League West but ,without this change, American League East teams would have gone six years without playing the NL Central. The last time the Orioles played the NL Central was in 2017.

The Orioles play series at St. Louis on May 10-12, the Cubs on July 12-13, Cincinnati from July 29-31 and the Nationals on September 13-14.

The Orioles have not played at the Cardinals’ current Busch Stadium. Their last visit to St. Louis was in 2003, and it will be the first time Milwaukee will play in Baltimore since 2003.

The Orioles will close the 2022 schedule with a six-game road trip to Boston and New York from September 27-October 2.
