The Orioles added power hitting infielder/outfielder Ryan Mountcastle and pitchers Keegan Akin and Dean Kremer from Triple-A Norfolk to their 40-man roster on Wednesday. They also selected the contract of outfielder Ryan McKenna from Double-A Bowie.
The most prominent players not added to the 40-man roster were right-handed pitchers Cody Sedlock, who was the Orioles’ first-round pick in the 2016 draft, and Gray Fenter, the seventh-round pick in the 2015 draft.
Mountcastle was named the Orioles’ organizational Player of the Year and the International League’s Most Valuable Player.
The 22-year-old, who was the 36th overall pick in the 2015 draft, hit .312 for Norfolk with 25 home runs and 83 RBIs. He had an .871 OPS last season.
Mountcastle, who played first base and left field for the first time in 2019, is expected to begin the 2020 season with Norfolk.
Akin, a 24-year-old left-hander, was the Orioles’ second-round pick in the 2016 draft. He was 6-7 with a 4.73 ERA in 25 games with the Tides.
Kremer, a 23-year-old right-hander was 9-6 with a 3.72 ERA in 21 games with Norfolk, Bowie and High-A Frederick.
He was obtained from the Los Angeles Dodgers in July 2018 in the trade that sent Manny Machado to the Dodgers.
Kremer and Akin are expected to see action with the Orioles next season. Kremer was 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in six games for Surprise in the Arizona Fall League.
The 22-year-old McKenna, a fourth-round selection in 2015, hit .232 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs for Bowie. McKenna stole 25 bases in 36 attempts for the Baysox.
The 24-year-old Sedlock was 5-3 with a 2.84 ERA in 22 games with Bowie and Frederick. Fenter, who is 23, was 8-2 with a 1.81 ERA in 22 games for Low-A Delmarva.
The Orioles have 39 players on their 40-man roster.

Suprised by the addition of McKenna. I would have been surprised if he had been selected in the Rule 5 draft after his 2019 season in Bowie. I could see teams taking a chance on Sedlock and Fenter though.
