The Orioles and slugger Mark Trumbo have agreed to a three-year deal, pending the passing of a physical, according to multiple sources.
Specific financial details have not been announced, but according to FanRag Sports, the deal is worth $37.5 million, or roughly $12.5 million annually. Trumbo made $9.15 million in 2016.
Trumbo, 31, led the majors with 47 homers last season, his only one as an Oriole.
The club was hoping to upgrade defensively in right field, but have always wanted Trumbo’s powerful right-handed bat back in the lineup. He likely would play a combination of DH, right field and some first base to occasionally spell Chris Davis if Trumbo were to return to the Orioles.
The Orioles biggest acquisitions so far this offseason have been catcher Welington Castillo and outfielder Seth Smith.

For the price and length of contract, the O's didn't get hurt. Waiting for January for the market to truly settle, getting other big bats with QOs attached to them off the market, turned out to be a good idea. However, they need to be sure that Trumbo doesn't spend one cent of that contract on a baseball glove that isn't a first baseman's mitt. He needs to be strictly a DH, with the occasional fill-in at 1B for a day off for Davis.
Now, if Duquette could actually get some support for the starting rotation...
