Orioles activate Bassitt from injured list to start Friday night against Rays

The Orioles activated right-hander Chris Bassitt from the 60-day injured list, and he’ll start Friday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The 37-year-old right-hander, who had back surgery last month, is 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA in 12 games, 10 starts.

His last start was on June 3rd at Fenway Park when he allowed three runs on six hits in three innings to the Red Sox.

Bassitt will oppose left-hander Steven Matz (5-4, 5.46) on Friday at 6:40 p.m.

To make room for Bassitt on the 26-man roster, right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Hiraldo, who missed much of the season with right shoulder inflammation, is 1-0 with a 5.87 ERA in seven games.

Kyle Bradish (7-11, 3.69) will start against Ian Seymour (9-3, 4.08) on Saturday night. Trevor Rogers (7-8, 4.21) and Freddy Peralta (5-9, 5.33) are scheduled to start on Sunday. Brandon Young (9-3, 3.33) will start for the Orioles on Monday night. The Rays haven’t decided on Monday’s starter.
