Orioles reinstate Povich from injured list, option left-hander to Norfolk

BALTIMORE—The Orioles reinstated pitcher Cade Povich, who’d been on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

The 26-year-old left-hander, who was 1-1 with a 5.12 ERA in four games, three starts, with the Orioles, had two rehab starts with Double-A Chesapeake and was 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA.

The Orioles claimed catcher Dominic Keegan off waivers from Tampa Bay and optioned him to Chesapeake.

Keegan hit .191 with six home runs and 23 RBIs in 51 games for Triple-A Durham this season. He was a fourth-round pick of the Rays in 2022 from Vanderbilt.

Right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas has been designated for assignment. The Orioles claimed Nicolas off waiver from Cincinnati. He was 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA in six games at Norfolk.
