As the Orioles begin a three-game series in Seattle on Tuesday night, they’re reporting progress on some of the players on the injured list. Earlier in the day, closer Ryan Helsley, who had been out since late April with right elbow inflammation, was activated, with Anthony Nunez optioned to Norfolk.
Orioles right-hander Chris Bassitt, who’s on the 15-day injured list with lower back discomfort, received a facet injection in the back by Dr. Thomas Tolli in St. Petersburg, Florida last Friday.
Bassitt is beginning a throwing progression, according to the Orioles’ latest injury report.
Outfielder Dylan Beavers, who’s on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique muscle, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake on Thursday.
Right-handed starter Dean Kremer, who’s on the 60-day injured list with a strained right quadriceps muscle, threw his second live batting practice on Tuesday and is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk within the week.
Left-handed starter Cade Povich, on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, threw a live batting practice on Tuesday and is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Chesapeake within the week.
Reliever Yaramil Hiraldo, who’s on the 60-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, has been throwing bullpen sessions and is scheduled for his first live batting practice in Sarasota on Friday.
There are no updates on closer Félix Bautista, who had rotator cuff and labrum surgery last August, or first baseman Ryan Mountcastle, who’s rehabbing his fractured left foot.
