BALTIMORE—The Orioles recalled right-hander Trey Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk to start Wednesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Gibson, who has a 5.40 ERA in two appearances, was on the taxi squad for Tuesday’s game. He allowed three runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings against the New York Yankees in his first start on May 3rd.
Five days later, Gibson gave up a run on three hits in two innings in relief against the Athletics.
To make room for Gibson, left-hander Nick Rauqet was optioned to Norfolk. He was recalled on Tuesday and didn’t pitch in the Orioles’ 6-1 win. In three games, Raquet has allowed three runs on three hits in 2 2/3 innings.
