ST. PETERSBURG, Florida—The Orioles activated infielder Jackson Holliday from the 10-day injured list less than 30 minutes before Monday’s game with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Holliday, who hasn’t played this season after February surgery to remove the hamate bone from his right wrist, took batting practice and fielded ground balls. He’s not in the starting lineup for the game.
He had three separate rehab assignments. In 22 games with Triple-A Norfolk, Double-A Chesapeake and High-A Aberdeen, Holliday hit .176 with a home run and five RBIs.
To make room for Holliday on the roster, the Orioles optioned catcher Maverick Handley to Norfolk.
