The Orioles have activated catcher Adley Rutschman from the 10-day injured list. Rutschman, who had a left ankle infection, was activated as soon as he was eligible. He did not have a rehab assignment.
Rutschman is hitting .294 with an .855 OPS in 10 games. He had three hits on April 10th, his final game before he went on the IL
He’ll presumably be starting on Tuesday night in Kansas City when Shane Baz pitches. The Orioles are facing left-hander Kris Bubic.
Left-handed hitting Samuel Basallo, who delivered two key run-scoring hits in Monday night’s 12-inning 7-5 win, did most of the catching when Rutschman was out.
To make room for Rutschman, catcher Sam Huff was designated for assignment. Huff hit .222 (2-for-9) with an RBI in three games. No runner attempted to steal against hm.
Huff’s move means the Orioles have 39 players on the 40-man roster, and Rutschman’s activation leaves 12 players on the injured list.
