Orioles’ injury update on Holliday, Akin, Enns, Kittredge, Rutschman, O’Neill, Hiraldo

Second baseman Jackson Holliday, who played in two games for High-A Frederick this weekend, will continue his rehabilitation assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Norfolk.

Holliday, who had surgery on his right wrist to remove the hamate bone, hit .250 (2-for-8) with an RBI for the Keys on Saturday and Sunday. In the first segment of his rehab assignment, which was ended on April 13th, Holliday hit .167 with three RBIs in 11 games for Norfolk. He shut down for a few days for wrist soreness that wasn’t related to his surgery.

Left-handed relievers Keegan Akin (strained left groin muscle) and Dietrich Enns (left foot infection) and right-hander Andrew Kittredge (right shoulder inflammation) will continue their rehab assignments at Norfolk, according to the Orioles’ weekly injury report.

Akin has allowed a run on three hits in 2 1/3 innings in two games. Kittredge, who paused his rehab assignment for the birth of his third child, has a 16.62 ERA in five games.

Neither Holliday, Akin nor Kittredge has appeared in a game for the Orioles this season.

Enns, who’s pitched a scoreless inning, is eligible to return to the Orioles. He had a 4.15 ERA in three games with the Orioles before his infection.

Catcher Adley Rutschman, who has left ankle inflammation, is eligible to be activated on Tuesday.

Outfielder Tyler  O’Neill, who’s on the 7-day concussion injury list, is eligible to return. The Orioles say he is following their concussion protocols.

Right-handed reliever Yaramil Hiraldo, who’s on the 60-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, was scheduled to see Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday for a second opinion.

There are no updates on the six other players on the injured list.

Third baseman Jordan Westburg, who had a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow because of a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament, is on the 60-day IL and is eligible to return on May 24th.

There’s also been no further word on outfielder/designated hitter Heston Kjerstad, who’s on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.
