Who will Orioles cut when Holliday returns? | MAILBAG

Question: Do you think when Jackson Holliday returns, the Orioles should send down Coby Mayo to help him get his hitting on track and more reps at third base? Third base can be covered by Jeremiah Jackson and Blaze Alexander. From: Rod Buckingham, Bedford, New Hampshire

Answer: Rod, there’s no easy answer to this one. Holliday might not be back this weekend. He has 20 days of rehab and that means he could be on his rehab assignment for another week.

Mayo could be the one because Alexander has played well and can slide to third. Jackson could also be the one because the Orioles seem to have enough outfielders and with Alexander, Holliday and Mayo on the roster, there’s no logical place for him.

I think I’d lean to Jackson, but it wouldn’t shock me if it was Mayo. An injury can also pop up at any time, taking them in an entirely different direction.

Question: Are there any early indications of how many plans have been purchased in the new Truist section of the ballpark? From: Edward Cuneo

Answer: Ed, the Orioles don’t release the number of season-ticket plans sold. Nor does any other team in professional sports, so I don’t know how half- or full-season plans have been sold for the Truist Club.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: [email protected]. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style
