Orioles add reliever Anthony Nunez to Opening Day roster; Hiraldo, Wolfram, Jackson also make team

BALTIMORE—The Orioles announced their Opening Day roster, and the final roster spots went to right-handers Yaramil Hiraldo, Anthony Nunez and left-hander Grant Wolfram. Utilityman Jeremiah Jackson is also on the roster.

Left-hander Keegan Akin was placed on the 15-day injured list because of a right groin strain. Outfielder Heston Kjerstad will start the season on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.

Second baseman Jackson Holliday, who had surgery to remove the hamate bone from his right wrist, and third baseman Jordan Westburg, who has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and received a platelet-rich-plasma injection, also will start on the 10-day injured list. However, president of baseball operations Mike Elias said Westburg’s injury will require long-term recovery.

Right-hander Andrew Kittredge is on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation but said the shoulder was feeling better.

The moves are retroactive to Sunday.

Right-handers Félix Bautista, who is rehabbing from labrum and rotator cuff surgery, and Colin Selby, who has right shoulder inflammation, will  begin the season on the 60-day injured list.

Right-handed pitcher Jackson Kowar and infielder Bryan Ramos have been designated for assignment. Right-hander Albert Suárez, utility player Weston Wilson, catcher Sam Huff and infielders José Barrero and Luis Vázquez were reassigned to minor league camp.

Nunez was optioned to minor league camp on March 8th.

The Orioles will have three rookies on their roster — Nunez, whose first appearance will be his major league debut, catcher Samuel Basallo and outfielder Dylan Beavers. Basallo and Beavers were late call-ups last season, and both showed promise.

With Kowar and Ramos’ removal, the Orioles have 38 players on the 40-man roster.

Only six players — right-handed pitchers Yennier Cano and Zach Eflin, catcher Adley Rutschman, first baseman Ryan Mountcastle and outfielders Colton Cowser and Tyler O’Neill — were on the 2025 Opening Day roster.

Eight players are playing with the Orioles for the first time — Nunez, right-handers Chris Bassitt, Shane Baz and Ryan Helsley, utility player Blaze Alexander, first baseman Pete Alosno and outfielders Leody Taveras and Taylor Ward.
