Albernaz sets Orioles’ starting rotation; Updates on Akin, Beavers, Kjerstad

BALTIMORE—Manager Craig Albernaz has announced his starting rotation. Kyle Bradish, who will start Sunday against the Washington Nationals, will follow Opening Day starter Trevor Rogers. He’ll start Saturday against the Minnesota Twins.

Shane Baz, who will start on Monday against Washington at Nationals Park, will be the third starter, and he’ll pitch the final game of the series against the Twins a week from now.

Chris Bassitt and Zach Eflin will start on March 30th and 31st against Texas.

Injury updates

Relief pitcher Keegan Akin, who suffered an adductor injury, more commonly known as a groin injury, and outfielder Heston Kjerstad, who has a hamstring injury, will have MRIs on Monday, Albernaz said.

Outfielder Dylan Beavers, who was scratched from Friday night’s game against the Yankees because of right knee discomfort, is being held out.

“We’re taking it light with him,” Albernaz said. “We’re going to use these days to get him recovered and see where it’s at.”

Outfielder Taylor Ward won’t be with the team for either of the games against the Nationals because his wife had their third child, a 10-pound, 7-ounce, baby boy.
