Mejdal will no longer oversee analytics for Orioles

BALTIMORE—Sig Mejdal, the Orioles’ vice president and assistant general manager of analytics, who’s been with the team since November 2018, will be changing roles according to a report by The Athletic, which was confirmed by an industry source.

Mejdal, who’s worked with president of baseball operations Mike Elias in St. Louis and Houston, will no longer oversee analytics.

The report says Mejdal will “oversee research of emerging technologies and innovative practices across baseball operations” while retaining his assistant general manager title.

Earlier this month, Matt Blood, who’d been with the Orioles for the past seven years as vice president of player and staff development, left the team.
