No Orioles among All-Star balloting leaders; Rutschman is 3rd among catchers

No Orioles are among the leaders in the first round of balloting for next month’s All-Star Game.

The closest Oriole in the balloting is catcher Adley Rutschman, who played in the 2023 and 2024 games. Rutschman is in third place with 261,607 votes, trailing the Athletics’ Shea Langeliers (715,625) and Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk (298,401).

Five-time National League All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso is fifth among American League first basemen with 202,781 votes, trailing the Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. by about 400,000 votes.

Shortstop Gunnar Henderson, an All-Star in 2024, is in sixth place among shortstops with 152,643 votes. He trails Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. by about 737,000.

Second baseman Jeremiah Jackson is in ninth place, designated hitter Samuel Basallo is sixth, but is more than 900,000 votes behind Houston’s Yordan Alvarez, who is the AL’s leading vote-getter. Outfielder Taylor Ward is 17th.

Phase 1 of voting concludes at noon on June 25^th. The top two vote-getters at each position and top six for outfielders will be revealed on MLB Network at 6 p.m. June 25^th. They’ll advance to the second phase of voting.

The All-Star team will be revealed on July 4^th at 7:30 p.m. on FOX. The All-Star Game will be played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on July 14^th.
