The Orioles placed right-handed starter Chris Bassitt on the 15-day injured list with lower back discomfort. Trey Gibson was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and will start Monday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
Manager Craig Albernaz said that Bassitt’s back was hurting during last Wednesday’s start at Boston.
Bassitt’s move is retroactive to June 5th.
Gibson is 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA in three games, two starts. Bassitt is 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA in 12 games.
Note: Right-hander Eduarniel Núñez was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs.
