Orioles, Tommy Pham in agreement on minor league contract; O’s-Nationals starting lineups

WASHINGTON—The Orioles have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Tommy Pham. The 38-year-old Pham has played with 10 major league teams, most recently the New York Mets.

Pham was hitless in 13 at-bats for the Mets this season. Pham has an opt-out early next month if he’s not added the major league roster, according to a report by ESPN,

The Orioles have been looking for another outfielder since Dylan Beavers suffered a strained right oblique muscle this week.

Pham is a lifetime .256 hitter in 1,250 games in 13 seasons.

ESPN was first to report the news, which was confirmed by an industry source.

Helsley rehabbing

Closer Ryan Helsley threw for the second consecutive day. Helsley said he lightly tossed 30 pitches from 75 feet.

Helsley is on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. He hopes to return sometime next month.

Note: The Orioles hired former utilityman Terrin Vavra as a Florida Complex League staff assistant to help with player development. Vavra played 68 games with the Orioles in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
