BALTIMORE—Orioles starting pitcher Zach Eflin left Tuesday night’s game with right elbow discomfort in the fourth inning. Eflin, who had allowed a run on four hits in 3 2/3 innings, re-signed with the Orioles in December after having back surgery last August.
He pitched effectively enough in spring training to convince the Orioles he was ready to start the season, resulting in the demotion of Dean Kremer.
Manager Craig Albernaz and head athletic trainer Scott Barringer came out to check on Eflin, who left the game quickly.
Eflin struck out seven and walked two. Texas’ run came on Ezequiel Duran’s home run.
Eflin was replaced by Grant Wolfram.
