Which Oriole could win a major award in 2026? | MAILBAG

Question: If you were to predict which Oriole would win a major award at the end of the season, who would that be, and what award would they win? From: Timothy Flower

Answer: Tim, there are five major awards: Most Valuable Player, Cy Young, Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Reliever of the Year.

The guess here is that Craig Albernaz has a good shot at Manager of the Year. I wouldn’t be surprised if other Orioles won awards — Gunnar Henderson (MVP), Trevor Rogers (Cy Young), Samuel Basallo (Rookie) and Ryan Helsley (Reliever) all seem to have reasonable chances if they have a good year, but I’ll say Albernaz.

Question: With the acquisitions of Jackson Kowar and Blaze Alexander and the signing of Chris Bassitt, do you think the Orioles are finished with altering the roster to start the season? From: Michael Janofsky

Answer: Michael, I think the Orioles are not finished altering their roster. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them add more relievers to the bullpen. I think they’re always on the prowl for arms, particularly relievers with options.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: Rich@BaltimoreBaseball.com. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
