Orioles claim Soriano off waivers from Miami, designate Daniel Johnson for assignment; Grapefruit League schedule announced

The Orioles have claimed right-handed pitcher George Soriano off waivers from Miami. The 26-year-old was 2-0 with an 8.35 ERA and a save in 24 games with the Marlins in 2025.

Soriano, who’s 3-1 with a 5.95 ERA with two saves in 72 games with Miami in the last three seasons, has averaged nearly a strikeout per inning and 4.2 walks per nine innings.

To make room for Soriano on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated outfielder Daniel Johnson for assignment.
