BALTIMORE—Orioles catcher Samuel Basallo left Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with right hand discomfort.
Basallo was hit in the right hand by a foul ball by the Dodgers’ Ben Rortvedt in the fifth inning and after testing his hand, was led off the field by head athletic trainer Scott Barringer and interim manager Tony Mansolino.
Alex Jackson replaced Basallo behind the plate. The Orioles have two catchers on the injured list, Adley Rutschman and Gary Sánchez, and if they need another catcher, could summon Maverick Handley from Triple-A Norfolk.
