Orioles trade Mullins to Mets for 3 pitching prospects

The Orioles traded Cedric Mullins to the New York Mets for three right-handed pitching prospects. Mullins, who was the first Oriole to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a season, was hitting .229 with 15 home runs and 49 RBIs with a .738 OPS and 14 steals this season.

Mullins, who was voted Most Valuable Oriole in 2021, also started the All-Star Game in center field.

In return for Mullins, the Orioles receive Raímon Goméz, 23, who had a fastball clocked at 104-mph; Anthony Nunez, 24, a converted infielder; and Chandler Marsh, 22. All three are right-handed relievers.
