Needing a fresh bullpen arm, the Orioles selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Matt Bowman from Triple-A Norfolk for the second time this season and optioned right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo to Norfolk.
Bowman was 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA in 16 games with the Orioles. He accepted an outright assignment to Norfolk on May 10th. Bowman was 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in four games with the Tides.
He’s not only a fresh arm, but he can work multiple innings.
Hiraldo threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his major league debut on Tuesday night in a 7-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, which snapped a three-game winning streak for the Orioles.
