What do you think of Orioles’ dismissal of Brandon Hyde? | MAILBAG

Question: What do you think of Brandon Hyde’s dismissal? From: Todd Baham

Answer: Todd, the move didn’t surprise me because the Orioles had been playing so poorly, and Friday’s 4-3 defeat to the Washington Nationals, when 15 runners were left on base, was crushing. I had been asked the question in various forums for a few weeks, and I said I couldn’t see them making that move until perhaps next month, but the play of the team in the first four games of the homestand was unacceptable.

Both Jack Gibbons and Peter Schmuck have already opined about the dismissal, so there’s not much I can add. I am personally fond of Brandon, and he was always cooperative and helpful to me, and I’ll miss him.

Question: Any chance that Buck Showalter returns? Sentimental choice. From: Mike Anderson

Answer: No, Mike, there’s no chance of Buck Showalter returning as Orioles’ manager. I don’t think his style and Mike Elias’ are compatible. I am a huge admirer of Buck’s, but I can’t see it happening.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: Rich@BaltimoreBaseball.com. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
