ANAHEIM, California—The Orioles have reinstated outfielder Tyler O’Neill from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Coby Mayo to Triple-A Norfolk.
O’Neill had been on the injured list because of neck inflammation. He’s hitting .215 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. O’Neill was 2-for-6 (.333) with an RBI in a two-game rehab assignment with Norfolk. He last played on April 23rd.
Mayo was recalled when Ramón Urías went on the injured list on Saturday, and he was 1-for-12 (.083) with six strikeouts in four games.
Emmanual Rivera, who like Mayo is a right-handed hitting first and third baseman, remains on the roster. He’s 6-for-15 (.400) with two RBIs in five games.
Besides Rivera, outfielder Dylan Carlson, who has been used as a defensive replacement, also stays on the roster for now despite going hitless in 15 at-bats.
Left-handed pitcher Walter Pennington cleared outright waivers and was assigned to Norfolk.
